Corona Blog --7: Let's give the very best
Draw us closer to your heartWhat is the Church to do in this strange new world of confusion and uncertainty?
Let’s pray.
‘Father, we long to know You more. Please lead us deeper, draw us closer to Your heart.’
God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ…
And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors,
as though God were making His appeal through us.
(2 Corinthians 5:19-20)
In previous blogs, I’ve written about God’s longing for us to come to Him, of His constant presence with us, that He is our Life-giver, He is our Father, and He wants the very best for us, which is to know Him.
The Church is made up of people who have accepted the Father’s invitation to come, who are getting to know Him more, and so becoming more like Him.
And, as we come to know the Father, we feel the beating of His Heart. We feel the urgency of His longing for every person He created with such love and care. We feel the heat of His passion for all people to know Him. The Father is not willing that any should perish (2 Peter 3:9). He sent His Son, Jesus, to give life to every human being.
Every… Human… Being…
Every… Single… One…
The Church does many good things. So do other bodies. But the one thing that only the Church can do, that no other body can do, is to introduce people to Jesus, to reveal who God is.
Jesus is our USP. Jesus is the very best we have to offer. We must not settle for second best. We must not be distracted by the good. We must intensify our focus on the best, on Jesus.
The Father gave His very best to the world, His only beloved and precious Son, to reconcile the world to Himself. And then He entrusted the message of that reconciliation to us. He makes His appeal through us, His Church. We have been given a sacred trust, a high and solemn commission.
God has reconciled humanity to Himself through His Son.
And we, His adopted sons, carry precious treasure – introduction to Jesus, the Father’s invitation to come to Him.
Let’s give people the very best.
Let’s pray.
‘Father, thank You for Who You are. Thank You that Your heart burns for us, that You long for us, that You love us passionately. Father, You have entrusted to us Your heart’s desire. Please help us fulfil Your trust.’
If you have questions or would like to get in touch for any reason, please send us an email.
We’d love to hear from you!
Love, Mary

Hello
Hi, my name is Mary. I’ve been a member of City Gate church for ages, and my desire to know God grows every year. I’ve recently been exploring the relationship we can have with God as Father because of Jesus, and that colours everything I see. In the midst of this corona virus pandemic, I find myself wondering what God is doing at this time.
